Student Employment Program provides jobs and pathways to success

Pellissippi Community College offers many different jobs within its Student Employment Program (SEP), which plays a beneficial role in helping students learn how to work and earn money while getting their degree.

SEP is an important opportunity for many students within Pellissippi and offers many benefits for the students who apply as it not only enhances the student time at the college but also prepares them for future careers.

The student employment program provides very important life experiences for the students within the program. Much of the information about the SEP, including how to apply, can be found on the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) website.

On-campus positions include roles in many departments such as the library, tutoring center, and administrative offices; the list of all the jobs can be found on the TBR website and the Pellissippi Job Board. Many options for all students are available on these sites.

Benefits of the SEP at Pellissippi include learning how to work with and around people, providing opportunities for students to make money, finding out what they want to do in the future, and choosing their own schedule so that their school schedule is still manageable.

Although there are many benefits of working with the student employment program, it is not yet very well known by students; if the SEP were better known, there would be more students interested in applying. Students should certainly take advantage of the program to help them learn about the workforce before they fully commit to it.
