Panther Packs Halloween Event: Come By for Snacks and Fun!
By Draven Copeland, Editor-in-Chief

To celebrate Halloween, America’s favorite candy holiday, Pax the Panther will deliver Panther Packs to students on the Hardin Valley campus this Thursday, Oct. 30.

“This is the Support Staff Council’s very first Halloween event,” organizer Sydney Caulfield said of the upcoming fundraiser. “Kaitlyn Brannon, president of Support Staff Executive Council, and I, the vice president of Support Staff Executive Council, thought that this would be an imaginative, fun—if eccentric—way to fundraise.”

Consisting of two bags of candy, a soft drink, and a specialty popcorn flavor, the packs are available on the Hardin Valley campus, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., in the courtyard by the Bagwell building or in the Rotunda in the Goins building if the weather is rainy.

The specialty popcorn flavors include Flaming Hot Cheetos, chocolate and caramel drizzle, Fruity Pebbles, and other sweet and savory toppings. Purchasers will choose their pack fillings when they pick them up.

“I combined my love for little treats with nostalgia to create the Panther Packs,” said Caulfield. She added that the organizers also will have a few surprise toppings on offer at the pick-up.

In addition to the treats, one lucky purchaser will find a Golden Ticket in their pack. The winner will receive $75 to use in the Pellissippi Bookstore.

“I am mostly excited about giving away the Golden Ticket to one lucky student; I think giveaways are super fun and this will definitely help to cover the cost of books or snacks,” Caulfield said.

Caulfield, an academic administrative assistant in the School of Communication, Arts, & Media Technologies, says the proceeds from the snack packs will benefit the Support Staff Scholarship.

“The Support Staff Council volunteers for campus-wide events to fundraise for the Support Staff Scholarships,” Caulfield said. “These scholarships are designated for supporting staff employees at PSCC or their children in times of need.”

Panther Packs can be purchased with cash or credit card for $6 each. By scanning the QR code, customers can pre-pay for their Panther Packs and add a donation if they want.
