Questions for the Sun

May 7, 2025
Questions for the Sun
By Jordan Hill, Special to the Journal

I wonder how the sun feels of the rain and
thunder outshining him.
Perhaps he likes sharing the spotlight
but we all know his envious nature.
Swallowing the stars- never letting them fall
but the stars will go dark eventually,
and time will pass anyway.

Held captive by a burning light,
the clouds blocking his rays and a sudden chill in the air.
Does he get upset? Putting in all this effort just for nothing on Earth
to absorb it?
I wonder if he gets petulant that we love cloudy stormy days as much as sunny ones.
Or maybe he enjoys a day off where he can rest for a while and gossip with the moon.
Listening as rain sweeps down on roofs,

coating the grass in a glossy form.
The sound of wind whistling and lightning thumping.
But he is the one who makes it all better.
Is the pressure too much?
Always looking out and making sure he is never gone for long.
Does he fear for when he goes out?
When no more light is coaxing our realm?

Who does he believe in to make it all better?
Has he accepted the fact that he is the God that makes or breaks us?
Watching over the planet just for it to end in a boom-
All at his hand.
