The grey mornings are my favorite,
I notice my walks around my neighborhood are quiet,
The world around me feels so still, so peaceful.
Mist and fog lay over the lake, the mountains
Fading into the smoky clouds in the distance.
While I walk, the dew wets my shoes and
The wind gently passes through me.
But I do love the sun, the bright ball
That warms my skin when Iโm cold.
It feels too loud right now.
The sun is strong, too strong.
I miss the misty mornings I call my paradise.
It was more than just a grey sky; it was the first sign of autumn.
A sign of the need for sweaters, the need for an umbrella.
Now, those seem to hardly exist as we enter September.
We were rich before it got too hot,
And now I want my misty mornings back.
