Nothing makes Pellissippi State Community College more special than the people who make up the campuses. Walking around and talking to the many students who are pursuing their passion was such a privilege. So, as students start to work towards the end of the semester, take in the quotes of the day that students on campus think about as they work through their studies.

“Run towards God and see who is running next to you” – Mr. Hayes. Leah asked her dad for advice about finding someone to share your life with, whether they be a friend or partner. He suggested going towards what you believe in and that is where you will find people who can support you and your passions.

“Rock bottom isn’t achievable because you always bounce back” – Hunter. Quotes of the day can become mottos that people learn to live by. This is a prime example of how failure isn’t permitted, but just a moment in time.

“Life is soup, and I’m a fork” – Kim Namjoon from the K-Pop group BTS. Not all quotes of the day have to be profound; some can be a silly line that makes you laugh.

“Invest yourself.” Kemp is a returning college student after many years in the workforce. He decided he wanted to go back to college and pursue a degree even after spending time outside of school. He invests in himself every day by taking the time to learn new skills and further his career.

“Embrace the opportunity” – Women’s soccer team coach. The coaches at Pellissippi are always trying to inspire and lift up students.

“Be strong and keep going. Always seize the day.” Christina saw the banners in the Goins building that said be strong when walking into Pellissippi State Community College and added a note to always take advantage of what life brings.

“Just do it” -Nike. While this quote is one of the cheesier ones, it still holds true. Confidence is one of the most important life skills students can learn. Confidence in oneself and the work produced is the first step to success.

“If you don’t build your own dreams, someone will hire you to help build theirs” – Tony Gaskins. A simple but powerful message that stands as a reminder to work towards one’s dreams.

“Don’t call it a dream, call it a plan.” This is a quote that is widely used and adapted from “a goal without a plan is just a wish” – Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

“Make it exist first, then make it good later” – Adam Grant. As students, many of us get stuck when something isn’t perfect at first. However, if you can just write the rough draft first before worrying if it’s going to fail, you can make a final draft an A.
