Hey artists! Imaginary Gardens is looking for artists who are interested in joining our cartooning team.
Lead cartoonist Evelyn Hawkey has undertaken a multi-part cartoon series titled Enormous Eight (or E8), and she needs staff members to help her with the pilot comic development; this includes inking, speech bubbling, framing, and background sketching.
“This experience with onboarding artists will help my fellow art students learn sequential drawing, expand on their artistic fundamentals, and develop their artistic horizons,” Hawkey says. “E8 is my passion project that I’m excited to grow with others.”
Participants will have a named role for their resume, as well as job duties to list in their resume entry. Hawkey points out that the chance to create work for publication helps develop professional work skills that will be helpful in the future.
Interested students should attend an open interview session and portfolio review on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 3-4 p.m., in McWherter room 337. Hawkey and other editors will be on hand to discuss opportunities.
